'Join-us' for Super Budget Transsib 2010

This page explains how to plan and book an overland journey from your country to China or Japan by Trans-Siberian Railway, cheaply and independently.

For lovers of travel and lovers of railways alike here is an incredible passing panorama across a vast and dramatic landscape.
Travelling across the breadth of China, Mongolia and Russia on board the Trans Siberian or Mongolian railways is a must.
For sheer distance, intrigue and, on completion, the tremendous sense of real personal satisfaction, no other train journey comes anywhere near it.

The essential elements of Independent Journeys are freedom and flexibility.
Independent Journeys such as these don't suit everyone.
They require a degree of self-reliance and personal resourcefulness, which in themselves represent part of the appeal.
For those who welcome the challenge and are undaunted by the occasional hurdle the independent traveller has to overcome, you owe it to yourself to participate in a truly exceptional adventure.

Your group is limited to 14 like-minded travellers from around te world - big enough to form a posse, small enough to give you space.
They come as singles, couples or buddies, and with the flexibility to choose your own daily routine, you have personal space or company as you see fit.

Accommodation in one of our comfortable chalets in Listvjanka.

Underway, the bus will make a few stops to enable you to shoot some pictures of the gigantic and rough mountaineous landscapes, where some rare flowers ccan be admired. Our destination will be our ger camp in the middle of overwhelming nature. The typical rock formations make up the scenery here. Naturally, you will spend the night in a traditional ger. You can easily explore Terelj (altitude 1600m) on foot, but you can also rent a horse or mountain bike. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.
Stay in Terelj. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Next day you will have an excursion around Terelj, going to the river and visiting some rock formations.

Day 12

In the morning transfer to Ulaanbaatar to your hotel and assistance with check-in you are entitled to some rest after such a long train journey. In the evening explore Ulaanbaatar on your own. The Soviet look of the city might not be worthy of a travel destination, but we can assure you that the spirit and the energy of the city is very different today. Together with a rapid return to religious and historical roots, the city and people of modern Ulaanbaatar have a lot to offer, particularly to those who are interested in art, anthropology, religion and history. Those who enjoy the social aspect of travel will have a great time at the summer gatherings outside of the city, which often include jazz concerts, dancing, and conversation around the bonfire.
Day 13 Departure from Ulaanbaatar
Check-out from the hotel in the morning and transfer to the railway station. We proceed to China!
Day 14 After noon we arrive to Beijing. End of program.
